Town were again made to rue failing to make the most of their first half possession and chances as Portsmouth left Portman Road with a 2-0 win. The Blues could have been well in front having dominated before the break but it was Pompey who claimed the points via second half goals from one-time Town loan target David Nugent and David Cotterill.

Boss Paul Jewell says he won’t make any rash changes to his side when Portsmouth visit Portman Road on Saturday despite Tuesday’s 2-0 loss to league leaders QPR. The Town manager, who will have to make one change with Colin Healy out injured, has generally been pleased with his side’s recent performances but feels they can do better in front of goal.
Youngsters Would Benefit From Loans Thu 24th Feb 2011 09:25
Boss Paul Jewell says Town’s youngsters would benefit hugely from being sent out on loan to clubs in the lower leagues. The Blues’ reserves beat Southend 4-0 yesterday but the Town manager believes the club’s first and second-year pros would learn far more if out on loan.

Paul Jewell is hoping to repeat his 2006 Carling Cup semi-final triumph over Arsenal with Wigan when Town take on the Gunners at the Emirates at the same stage of the competition this evening (BBC2 and BBC HD, 7.30pm). The Blues go into the game a goal up from the first leg, Tamás Priskin’s second half strike having seen them to a 1-0 victory at Portman Road a fortnight ago.
